Motovario is one of Italy's leading manufacturers of power transmission products, for civil and industrial applications (gearboxes, speed variators and electric motors). Motovario operates two factories based near Modena (Formigine and Fiorano Modenese) and holds foreign subsidiaries in eight countries, among which the USA, France and the United Kingdom. The company reported 2009 revenues of €70 million, approximately 61% of which abroad. It employs 560 people. In 2006, BS Investimenti IV and BS Private Equity arranged the management buy-in of Motovario acquiring it from Power Transmission Finance, a family-owned industrial conglomerate, which re-invested in the transaction in a minority position. The investment rationale is to support the group's long term growth path, strengthening its worldwide market position, especially in the USA and in China.
